Daisy abstract landscape of summer in Sussex, England. Although the painting is semi abstract in style, there are hints of daisies, foxgloves, clover and other wildflowers all swirling in motion towards the sky. It was inspired by a walk I took at the end of May near the South Downs in Sussex. I sat in a meadow like this one and watched the exuberance of the flowers. I am forever awed at how perfect flowers are and yet how short their lives are. The have one cycle - get some sun, pull some bees, release some seeds, die. A fantastic spectacle and one that I really struggled to capture here but eventually feel I have done. The painting was originally much more traditional but it somehow did not capture the enthusiasm of nature that I wanted to express. So I panted over it until I was happy I had caught a little of the essence of a Summer meadow rather than a botanical study.
